Below are some photos from our Ranger event two weeks ago when we cleared some of the vegetation from Newlay Meadow to encourage wild flowers. We will be scything down the meadow next year too to maximise the effect. Learning to scythe was great fun so we would recommend it for next year.
Unfortunately our beautiful community garden has taken a bit of a battering during the summer drought and it doesn’t look much like the photos on Facebook at the moment. Some of the plants have died and this has left gaps for weeds to grow. We would like to tidy up the garden and get it ready for furthe replanting next spring.
We will be meeting 10am on Sunday 28th October on leeds & Bradford Road Please come and help if you can. Wear suitable clothing for the weather. We will provide some tools and trailer to take away weeds but a trowel or spade may be useful.
See you there hopefully.
